People have lost faith in Yogi govt : Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow/UNI: Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav has said that the people have lost "faith in Yogi Adityanath government" as the Uttar Pradesh government is paralysed "due to lack of clear intent, policy and leadership".

"The ability of the elected government to discharge its constitutional obligations and commitment for the welfare of people is visible from day one. It is yet to be visible in Yogi Adityanath government even as it has completed 40 months in office," said the SP chief in a statement here on Sunday with adding, "Tall promises were made to the people by the chief minister Yogi Adityanath after taking oath of office in March 2017 , none have translated on the ground."

"In 2017, Chief Minister had promised to make the state pothole free by June 2017. The deadline was extended several times but nothing happened even as thousands of crore have been spent on making the roads pothole free," Akhilesh Yadav said.

He said in 2017-18, a budgetary allocation of Rs 3,793 crore was made in the budget and Rs 3,266 crore in 2018-19 and Rs 2,305 crore in 2020-21, the roads remain dilapidated and accidents prone. He said, "There are strong reasons to believe that the funds for road repair is being misappropriated as the condition of roads remains the same even after the huge expenditure by the state government."

Accusing the BJP government of failing to deliver to the people on all fronts, former chief minister said, "Yogi Adityanath government has failed to announce even one development scheme during its 40 month long tenure and now the BJP has devised new techniques for siphoning off the public money through scams."

He said the development works in the state have come to a grinding halt as the BJP government remains vindictive towards the development schemes launched during the previous Samajwadi party regime.

Samajwadi Party chief claimed that the BJP government has become laughing stock in the eyes of the common people as the Yogi Adityanath government keeps claiming credit for the projects initiated by the Samajwadi party government.
