People do anything for power in Indian politics: Rahul on Nitish alliance swap
"To be honest I had an inkling of it for past few months. I know that this planning is going on for the past three to four months. This is the problem, this is the problem with Indian politics that people do anything to stay in power," said Rahul Gandhi replying to journalists on the Nitish Kumar episode in Bihar.
Earlier, Nitish Kumar said the decision of forming the government in an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was taken for the interest of the people in the state.
Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar on Thursday morning.
Kumar, who severed his ties with RJD over corruption issue, formed the new government with the support of the BJP.
Along with Nitish, BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state.
Speaking about the mission of the new government, Nitish said: "We will continue to work for the people of Bihar with honesty."
Kumar stepped down from the position after he met Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi last evening.
