Pema Khandu to take oath as CM of Arunachal Pradesh on May 29

Itanagar, May 27 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister designate Pema Khandu will take oath as Chief Minister of the frontier state for the second term on May 29 at Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre here.

Khandu along with senior BJP leaders including party’s central observer JP Nadda, Assam Minister and North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma and State BJP president Tapir Gao met Governor Brig (retd) BD Mishra at Raj Bhavan here and staked claim to form the next Government, shortly after he was elected as BJP legislature party leader.

Accepting the letter of support of the newly elected party legislators, the Governor invited Mr Khandu to form the next Government on May 29.

Talking to reporters at Raj Bhavan premises, Nadda said, “In the BJP legislature party meeting, Chowna Mein proposed the name of Pema Khandu for the Chief Minister’s post which was seconded by three senior members and after that all the newly elected members supported the proposal and unanimously elected Khandu as the leader of the BJP legislature party.”

While the CM designate said, “First time in the history of Arunachal Pradesh, BJP is going to form a full fledged Government.’’

“In the legislature party meeting today I have said that in the coming days, the real challenge is ahead, people have huge expectations from our new government,” Khandu said.

“I am confident that in coming days we will be able to take our state to new heights”, he stated.

The BJP got absolute majority in the 60-member house by winning 41 seats.
