Gandhinagar/UNI: A Pakistani boat carrying drugs worth Rs 400 crore was apprehended by the Indian Coast Guard, in a joint operation with Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) off the Gujarat Coast, officials said.

The Public Relations Office (PRO), Defence, Gujarat, said the ICG, along with the ATS, apprehended the fishing boat "Al Huseini", with six crew members, in Indian waters.

The boat has been brought to Jakhau in Kutch district for further investigation.

Coast Guard sources said the boat was apprehended based on a tip-off. Detailed interrogation of the six crew members arrested is underway.

Narcotics worth more than Rs 30,000 crore smuggled through Gujarat coast have been confiscated in the last three to four years, as per government data.

In the current year, over 3,200 kg of heroin has been seized from the coastal areas of the state. This includes the drug worth Rs 21,000 crore, shipped in two containers from Afghanistan via Iran, which was seized from the Mundra port in September.
