Over 1.4k migrant workers board Shramik Special train from Kolhapur

Kolhapur/UNI:  Around 1,440 migrant workers finally boarded a Uttar Pradesh-bound Shramik Special train from the Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Terminus here on Wednesday.

Departing at 1300 hrs today, the 24 coach train will reach its' destination Prayagraj on Thursday.

Out of the total passengers, 757 were stranded in the city while Karveer and Gaganbavda suburbs were hosting 667 and 16 such persons, respectively.

All the labourers were ferried to the railway station by buses and they were provided with food packets to be consumed during the two-day journey.

Earlier, 400 daily wagers departed from here to their natives. The travel fares of transporting them is being borne by the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.

Minister of State for Home Satej Patil, also Kolhapur Guardian Minister, oversaw the workers boarding the train.
