Operation Sindoor reminds Pakistan of its shameful defeat: PM Modi in Katra
Katra/IBNS: In his maiden visit to Jammu and Kashmir since the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said Operation Sindoor reminds Pakistan of its shameful defeat boasting of the Indian Army's military action that destroyed terrorist camps in the neighbouring country.

"Pakistan attacked both humanity and Kashmiriyat in Pahalgam. Its intention was to create riots in India, to stop the earnings of the hard-working people of Kashmir, hence Pakistan attacked the tourists," Modi said in a public address in Katra where he inaugurated the Chenab Railway Bridge.
"The youth of Jammu and Kashmir have now made up their mind to give a befitting reply to terrorism. This is the terrorism which burnt schools in the valley, destroyed hospitals, and ruined many generations," he added.
The Prime Minister, who visited the union territory exactly a month after Operation Sindoor, said the Indian Armed forces acted beyond Pakistan's imagination.
"Today is June 6... Coincidentally, exactly a month ago, on this very night, doom had befallen the terrorists of Pakistan. Now whenever Pakistan hears the name of Operation Sindoor, it will remember its shameful defeat.
"The Pakistani army and terrorists had never imagined that India would enter Pakistan and attack the terrorists in this manner. The buildings of terror that they had built with years of hard work turned into ruins in a matter of minutes," Modi said.

The Prime Minister on Friday inaugurated Chenab Railway Bridge, the tallest railway bridge in the world, in the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Prime Minister has also flagged off Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express, which connects Kashmir to the Indian railway network.
"Chenab Bridge is the world's highest railway arch bridge. This bridge is even higher than the Eiffel Tower. Now people will not only go to see Kashmir via Chenab Bridge, but this bridge will also become an attractive tourist destination in itself," he said commenting on the railway link in his address.
About Chenab Railway Bridge
An integral part of the 338 km Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL), the bridge connects Katra to Srinagar and finally to the Baramulla terminus.
The bridge, which was approved in 2002 under then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, enables Vande Bharat Express trains to run from Katra to Srinagar, reducing the journey to under three hours and significantly boosting tourism and regional economy.
The first ever-rail link from Jammu to Kashmir valley, Chenab Bridge's construction started in 2017 under the Modi government.
Made from roughly 25,000 tons of steel plus concrete, the bridge is 1,178 ft tall and 1,315 m long.
The commercial operations will begin on June 7.
