Onus is on Pakistan to act swiftly against terrorist groups : India

New Delhi, Sept 22 (IBNS) : Hours after going ballistic against Pakistan at the United Nations for aiding terrorism, India on Thursday said the "onus" is now on the neighbouring country to act against terror groups.

Maintaining the tone set by Indian diplomats at the UN in the morning, where Pakistan was described as a "host to the Ivy League of terrorism," the phrase India chose in the evening was the same : India refers to Pakistan as a state that uses terror as an instrument of the state policy.

"The onus is now on Pakistan to act against terror groups which find safe havens and all types of support for cross border terror, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said at a press briefing in the national capital.

"It is in the interest of Pakistan to act swiftly against terrorist who they harbour" he said while referring to the attack on the Uri Army camp in which 18 soldiers were killed.

Swarup said India has asked Pakistan national finger print database to match fingerprints of Pak terrorists involved in the Uri attack, which Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is denying.

"Pak PM Sharif at #UNGA glorifies Hizbul terrorist Burhan Wani in UN's highest forum. Shows continued Pak attachment to terrorism," Swarup said referring to Sharif's address at the UN that prompted India to go for a full blown diplomatic counter offensive.

He reiterated India's oft-repeated demand that Pakistan  must dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism.

"We don't need to present dossier, whole world is aware that Pakistan sponsors terrorism," Swarup said.
