Only lime-water, fruits for Modi in US tour

New Delhi, Sept 23 (IBNS): Whether gala dinner hosted by US President Barack Obama in the White House or community dinner hosted in his honour by the Indian Ambassador-Prime Minister Narendra Modi will stick to his "Navratri" menu, when he visits the country later this week, media reported.
It has been learnt that Modi will be taking only fruits and lime water during his entire US stay which coincides with ‘Navratri’.

64-year-old Modi for many decades use to fast during the Navratri and eats only fruits during the day. Sources close to PM said this time also there will be no exception.

According to Hindu religious calendar, Navratri meaning “Nine nights” falls from September 25 to October 3.

PMO sources said his fast won't impact any engagements he will have during his official visit to the US.

Modi has a hectic schedule both in New York as well as in Washington.

Apart from an address at the United Nations General Assembly on September 27, the Prime Minister will hold a rally of Indian Americans at New York's Madison Square Garden and bilateral talks in Washington with Obama, who is hosting a dinner for the visiting dignitary on September 29.

Modi is scheduled to meet top American CEOs on that day.
