Kolkata, Sept 7 (IBNS): The Bidhannagar City Police on Wednesday booked a middle-aged man from Dankuni area in Hooghly district of West Bengal for allegedly giving bomb threat to Kolkata airport, officials said.

According to reports, Kolkata Police headquarters received two threat calls at 1:15 am. and 1:24 am. midnight and Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate got another anonymous threat call at around 9 am. on Wednesday.

All three callers threatened to explode Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI-CCU) airport in the city.

Following the calls, police, bomb disposal squad, along with sniffer dogs, and CISF held search operation at the entire airport.

The Airport Authority of India and Bidhannagar City Police confirmed that no suspicious object was found during the search operation, while the security at NSCBI airport has been beefed up, following the bomb threat.

Later in the evening, police caught one suspect- Arunabha Sinha- in connection with the case and released later after hour-long interrogation.

"After examining the tower locations of the threat callers, we have come to know that three calls came from somewhere in Kolkata, Dankuni and Guwahati," a senior police official told IBNS.

"We detained a man, who made the third bomb threat call today morning, from Dankuni and released him later, after coming to know that he is mentally unbalanced. Our operation is on to identify, locate and catch the remaining two callers," he further said.

A source claimed that another man nabbed from Kolkata's Bidhannagar area in connection with the threat call case and he is being interrogated now, while the police officials denied the authenticity of the information.
