One govt job per household: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's massive Bihar poll promise
Patna/IBNS: In a massive poll promise, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday said one member of every household in Bihar will have a government job if his party-led coalition comes to power in the upcoming assembly elections, media reports said.
The prime challenger to the ruling NDA said within 20 days of his government formation, a new law will be passed giving a guarantee to one government per household.
"Under economic justice, we have made a historic and transformative announcement today. Every family in Bihar that does not have a government job will be mandatorily provided with a job through a new act.
"For 20 years, this government has failed to provide jobs and employment. As soon as our government is formed, within 20 days, we will enact a “Special Job-Employment Act” and ensure that every family gets a job within 20 months. Tejashwi has shown by providing 5 lakh jobs in 17 months, and now we will provide a job to every family in 20 months," Tejashwi said.
Tejashwi's RJD is an alliance with the beleaguered Congress and Left to take on the NDA that combines Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United), Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other smaller parties.
Late last month, PM Modi launched a new scheme offering Rs. 10,000 each to 75 lakh women in the poll-bound state, which is battered by low income and poor employment facilities.
The PM launched the Rs. 7,500-crore Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana as a part of the NDA government's new initiative to woo the women voters.
Under the scheme, an amount of ₹10 thousand will be given as the first installment as financial assistance to one woman from each family to pursue employment of her choice.
After the women start employment, additional financial assistance up to ₹2 lakh will be provided as per requirement after assessment.
The Bihar assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11. The results will be declared on November 14.
