Odisha: Two Maoists killed in encounter identified

Bhubaneswar/UNI: Two armed Maoists including a woman who were killed during an exchange of fire between security personnel and the ultras in Tmudibandh Police Station area of Kandhamal District in the last week of July, have been identified.

DGP office sources here today said the killed Maoists have been identified as Ajeet and Rajita, both ACM and belonged to BGN division of the Odisha state Committee.

Acting on a tip off, an anti- Naxal operation was launched by a joint team of SOG and DVF on July 22 last in the Tumudibandha RI area.

On the next day while the team was combing the area at around 1630 and 1700 hrs the Maoists opened heavy firing from advantageous positions and lobbed grenades.

Police party took cover and disclosed their identity but the Maoists continued the firing. Police party fired back in self defence.

During the post operation and combing operation,the bodies of two unidentified armed Maoists including a woman along with several camp articles were recovered..

The identity of the armed Maoist was not ascertained then, Police sources said.
