North East will become 'Congress mukt' soon: Amit Shah

| @indiablooms | May 21, 2018, at 12:39 am

Guwahati, May 20 (IBNS): In a chilling warning to the Congress, the national president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Amit Shah, said on Sunday that North East India will soon be rid of the grand old party.

"By end of this year the entire Northeastern region will be Congress mukt (free) as the  North East Democratic Alliance will come to power in Mizoram. Very soon we will have all eight North East states," Shah said.

Shah, who was in Guwahati to participate in the 3rd conclave of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), a political platform led by BJP, said that the Congress chief ministers of North East India were engaged in corruption and have collected huge proprieties within and outside the region.

Shah also accused the Congress of using the North East region as a vote bank.

"Previous Briefcase politics had now changed to development politics in the region," he said.

Ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha poll, the BJP National president has also prepared a strategy for winning at least 21 Lok Sabha seats out of the existing 25 in the region.

Shah also said that after formation of NEDA, a new development engine has started in the region, stating that NEDA is not a political but a geo-cultural alliance.

The meeting was attended by Chief Ministers of Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya.

Deputy Chief Ministers of the seven NE states, MPs, ministers, MLAs, leaders of the NEDA partners, political parties, including Asom Gana Parishad(AGP), Bodoland People's Front (BPF), Ganashakti, and Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), also attended the event.
