| @indiablooms | Nov 20, 2019, at 11:34 pm

Patna/UNI: Bihar Chief Minister and JD (U) president Nitish Kumar on Wednesday scotched all speculations over the possibility of his campaigning in favour of rebel BJP candidate Saryu Rai in Jharkhand assembly election saying that he was not required there.

Speaking to newspersons after a programme, Kumar said, "I am not needed there."

Rai is contesting election from Jamshedpur West constituency.

Later, Kumar did not entertain any media query.

On the other hand, JD (U) Co In charge for Jharkhand affairs Arun Singh had told UNI in Ranchi on Tuesday that JD (U) had withdrawn its candidates from Jamshedpur East and Jamshedpur West seats once the discussion started over the possibility of Rai contesting from either of these two seats.

He had also expressed hope that party president Nitish Kumar will be campaigning in favour of Rai.

As it is, rebel BJP MLA Mr Rai had resigned from BJP as well as from the posts of minister and MLA before filing nomination papers for Jamshedpur East and Jamshedpur West seats against Jharkhand chief minister Raghuvar Das on Nov 18.

He has filled nomination papers on both seats an an Independent candidate.
