Nine more Indians killed in Mecca crane collapse

New Delhi, Sept 13 (IBNS): Indian officials on Sunday confirmed that nine more Indians have died in the crane collapse tragedy in Mecca on Friday.


''While our officials on the ground in Makkah continue to provide assistance to the injured Indians, Saudi authorities permitted the opening of the mortuary for identification of deceased pilgrimson Sunday, the 13th evening," MEA spokesperson  Vikas Swarup said in a statement.

He said: "Working with relatives of missing persons, and Private Tour Operators our officials have unfortunately confirmed that an additional 9 Indian pilgrims have died in the tragic accident. The list of deceased pilgrims is below. Our Mission is extending all necessary help to the families in order to complete formalities in Makkah."


More than 100 people, which earlier included two Indians,  were killed in the crane collapse incident in the Muslim holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
