'New order from LG will strangulate Delhi govt': Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi/IBNS: In an escalation of a power tussle in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said a new order by the Lieutenant Governor will "strangulate" the city government and its services.

The new order has stopped the engagement of hundreds of advisors and fellows without the approval of the LG.

Slamming the move, Kejriwal tweeted, "This will completely strangulate Delhi govt and its services. I don’t know what does Hon’ble LG achieve by doing all this? I hope Hon’ble SC immediately quashes it."

The new order came days after LG VK Saxena stopped the services of around 400 specialists, who were appointed by the Aam Aadmi Party government in the union territory whose administrative powers are shared between the city and the Centre.

Now with the new order, the Delhi government will require the approval of the LG to make such appointments.

The tussle is just an escalation of the power struggle between the city and central governments, which are fighting over controlling the bureaucracy of Delhi.

Though the Supreme Court had passed an order favouring the Kejriwal government in the power tussle, the Modi government issued an ordinance to take its control back.
