New Delhi, Jun 19 (UNI) A pile of scrap caught fire under the Barapullah flyover in the city near the Sarai Kale Khan side on Wednesday.

According to Delhi Fire Services, a call was received regarding the fire at around 1150 hrs and three fire tenders were pressed into service.

The fire was triggered on a pile of garbage and scrap which was over near a high tension wire passing under the flyover.

However, there were no casualties or any such major damage reported from the blaze so far.

According to local sources, the fire is suspected ho have been triggered due to the scrap piling up near the high tension power supply cables which is likely to have come in contact with the high tension electricity wires, However, the exact cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.

It took more than one-and-a-half hours to control the blaze as it took a while to cut the power supply from the high tension cables.

The concerned electricity department took some time to cut the power from the cables as they are being said to be carrying heavy power load.
