Neiphiu Rio sworn-in as Nagaland CM

Kohima, Mar 8 (IBNS) :  Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party(NDPP) leader Neiphiu Riowas on Thursday sworn in as Nagaland Chief Minister  the chief minister of Nagaland, heading a coalition in alliance with the BJP, reports said.

Defence minister Niramala Sitharaman, minister of state (home) Kiren Rijiju, BJPpresident Amit Shah, BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal and Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma were among the dignitaries who were present at the oath taking ceremony held at  Kohima Local Ground.

Rio has already served as the state's Chief Minister three times, between 2003 and 2014.

Rio's NDPP is allied with the BJP, and has the support of the JD(U) and an Independent -thus amassing a total strength of 32 MLAs in the  60-member state Assembly.

Rio must prove his majority on the floor of the House on or before March 16, 2018.
