New Delhi, May 25 (UNI): Stage is set for scripting a new page in the life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

All newly elected MPs of the BJP-led NDA will meet on Saturday here to formally elect Mr Modi as the leader of the NDA parliamentary party.

Sources said the meeting will take place in Parliament’s Central Hall on Saturday evening. Prior to NDA lawmakers meet, the BJP MPs will meet separately - as was the case in 2014 as well and pass a resolution to re-elect Mr Modi as their leader.

In 2014, Modi had turned emotional in the Central Hall while addressing the MPs. He had entered the Parliament premises by bowing down at the Gate in a gesture devotees do it before temples.

This time too after his formal election as Parliamentary party leader, Modi is expected to deliver a brief speech.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has got more than 350 members in Lok Sabha while the BJP tally has shot up to 303.

Among NDA constituents, Shiv Sena has 18, JD(U) - 16 members, LJP - 6 and Akali Dal - two.

The BJP-led NDA improved its tally in north east too where the alliance has recorded win in as many as 18 seats out of 25.

The Prime Minister tendered resignation of his government on Friday following the mandatory norms and paving the way for the formation for the new ministry.
