National-level shooter missing from Bengal's Howrah, last seen at railway station
Police in West Bengal have launched a search for 15-year-old national-level shooter Damayanti Sen, who has been missing since Thursday afternoon after leaving her home in Howrah to buy household items, media reports said.
Damayanti, a resident of Umacharan Bhattacharjee Lane in central Howrah, had recently been selected for the national team trials and was actively competing in state-level shooting events.
Last seen at Howrah Station
According to police, CCTV footage captured Damayanti moving between platforms 4 and 5 at Howrah Railway Station on Thursday morning. Investigators said this is the last confirmed sighting of the teenager.
Officials are now examining CCTV footage and trying to reconstruct her movements after she was seen at the station.
She was carrying her mobile phone when she left home.
Family raised alarm after she failed to return
Damayanti's family filed a missing persons report at the local police station after she failed to return home and searches among friends, fellow shooters and relatives yielded no clues.
Her parents told police that she maintained a disciplined daily routine, waking up early every morning for shooting practice following her selection for the national trials.
They also said there had been no recent disagreements or family issues that could explain her disappearance.
Mother appeals for information
In an emotional appeal on social media, Damayanti's mother urged the public to help trace her daughter.
"Today at 10 o'clock in the morning, on platforms number 4 and 5 of Howrah station, my daughter Damyanti Sen was seen for the last time. Since then, she cannot be found anymore. She was wearing a pink coloured half T-shirt and half pants. If any kind-hearted person can find her or has any information, please contact the following number immediately," she wrote.
Police intensify search
By Friday morning, Damayanti was still untraceable, sparking concern among her family, neighbours and members of the shooting fraternity.
Police said the missing persons case is being treated seriously, with efforts underway to track her movements and locate the teenager as quickly as possible.
