According to Dindori police, the incident took place at around 1730 hrs on Thursday, when three-year-old Gayatri was playing in a sugarcane field, where her father Prakash Gangurde was working.

A leopard, who was hiding nearby, pounced on the girl and dragged her away. Her body was found in another sugarcane field later by local villagers, who rushed to the spot, on hearing the news.
