Puducherry, Apr 2 (UNI) Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Tuesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is neglecting southern states.

Talking to newspersons here, Narayanasamy said that Mr Modi did nothing for the development of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and similar is the case of Karnataka, Kerala, AP and Telengana.

He said that the Telugu Desam party pulled out from NDA since, Modi failed to give Special Category Status (SCS) to AP as promised in the election manifesto.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi had assured to support the development of southern states and that’s why he is contesting from Wayanad, he added.

Thanking Mr Gandhi for including the issue of statehood for Puducherry in the Congress election manifesto released today, the Chief Minister detailed the efforts taken by the Congress governments here to secure statehood for Puducherry.

Several resolutions were adopted in the territorial assembly and forwarded to the President, Prime Minister and Home Minister. An all-party delegation from Puducherry also held an agitation at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

Since, Modi failed to respond, Mr Rahul Gandhi was apprised and the Congress Election Manifesto Committee agreed for inclusion of the demand in the manifesto, he said.

He also said abolition of NEET in states which object to it, waiver of farmers loan, income generating scheme for poor people, separate budget for farmers and others were incorporated in the manifesto and added that Mr Modi promised two crore jobs but snatched away the jobs of 4.7 crore people through GST and demonetization.
