Narendra Modi becomes PM for third term: Taiwan wants to establish closer mutually beneficial cooperation with India

Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday said it wants to establish closer mutually beneficial cooperation with India, a country which recently elected new members of its Parliament.

Indian PM Narendra Modi took oath for the record-equalling third straight term.

India is a key target country for Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy, MOFA said as quoted by Taiwan News.

Taiwan wants to promote bilateral cooperation in trade and semiconductor technology, which will facilitate peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region, the ministry added.

Taiwan's President Lai Ching-te congratulated Indian PM Narendra Modi on his Lok Sabha election victory and said he is looking forward to expanding the fast-growing relationship between the two nations.

He posted on X: "My sincere congratulations to Prime Minister @narendramodi

on his election victory. We look forward to enhancing the fast-growing #Taiwan-#India partnership, expanding our collaboration on trade, technology & other sectors to contribute to peace & prosperity in the #IndoPacific."

Indian PM Narendra Modi returned for the third term after registering a victory  in the Lok Sabha polls despite a strong fight from the opposition alliance named INDIA.
