New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) Without naming any country, India and Germany on Friday jointly urged the international community to work towards rooting out 'terrorist safe havens' and halt all kinds of cross border movement of terrorists.

The Joint Statement issued after a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel said: "Emphasising that terrorism is a global scourge the two leaders expressed their strong concerns on global threat of terrorism and their resolve to jointly combat it".

Referring to the need for presenting a united front in the fight against this global menace, the two leaders called for the finalisation and adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) in March 2020.

"They called upon all countries to work towards rooting out terrorist safe havens and infrastructure, disrupting terrorist networks and financing channels and halting cross border movement of terrorists," it said.
