Mumbai/UNI: Fire broke out in a two-story shop in Mumbai's Byculla area on Wednesday, with no injuries reported while five people were rescued, a Fire Brigade official said.

The incident occurred at 7.20 am in a shop on Sankli Street in Byculla West.

Footwear, leather stock, garments, household articles, and electrical installations in various "galas" (sub-sections) in the shop were gutted, an official said.

After being alerted about the fire, authorities sent at least nine fire engines to the spot to douse the fire.

The rescue operation is going on.
