Mumbai: AIMIM MLA arrested for unlawful assembly in Mumbai, released

Mumbai, Aug 8 (UNI) All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen's sole MLA from Mumbai, Waris Pathan, on Friday arrested by the city police for allegedly offering a special prayer outside a mosque for people of Jammu & Kashmir and Kolhapur flood victims here.

Pathan was detained on the charge of unlawful assembly by the Nagpada police, after the MLA offered a special prayer outside a mosque at Madanpura area of south Mumbai, police said and informed that he was later released upon furnishing a bond.


Local people said that prayers were offered for the people of Jammu & Kashmir and Kolhapur flood victims in the mosque.


When contacted, Pathan said there was nothing wrong in it and the prayer was for people of Jammu & Kashmir and Kolhapur flood victims.
