New Delhi, Mar 7 (IBNS) A multi-city alert has been sounded by Indian security agencies on Monday after receiving information that 10 terrorists may have crossed over to India from Pakistan, according to media reports.
Apart from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, the alert has also been sounded for two-tier cities such as Jaipur, Lucknow, Bhopal and Vijaywada; security at important installations, airports and ports have also been hiked up as security experts believe the terrorists can mount multiple attacks simultaneously, reported NDTV.

More cities and states may also be brought under the purview of the alert depending on the situation.

Earlier on Monday, with the country getting ready to celebrate Mahashivratri, the alert was first sounded in Gujarat, from where the terrorists have reportedly entered India and in Jammu and Kashmir.

Security was also beefed up in Delhi after security agencies suspected that the terrorists may have reached the capital.

While National Security Guard (NSG) commandos were rushed to Gujarat, the state government also cancelled Monday’sMaha Shivratri festival at the Somnath temple.

Union Home minister, Rajnath Singh, is expected to chair a high-level meeting on internal security in Delhi on Monday, according to media reports.
