Mukul Roy's son to face actions?

| | Feb 21, 2015, at 03:17 am
Kolkata, Feb 20 (IBNS): The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Friday accused senior party leader Mukul Roy's son Subhrangshu Roy of apparently breaching discipline by making remarks against the party.

"We will scrutinise the media bytes of Bijpur MLA. Disciplinary Committee will meet again after 72 hours," TMC Secretary General Partha Chatterjee told media.

"On the face of it, it seems Bijpur MLA breached party's discipline. We will scrutinise this issue further," he said.

Chatterjee said the party will not accept ' anti-party activities'.

The move was made after Subhrangshu Roy, who is a  party legislator from Bijpur constituency in West Bengal, attacked the party and said he will stand by his father who has been facing 'insults'.

"I had joined the party after Mamata Banerjee had asked me to do so. She had made me a candidate. Obviously, I will stand by my father as his insult comes before all. I feel proud of him. He knows every TMC  worker," Subhrangshu Roy said.

Speaking on the Kalyani Assembly seat, he said: "It is not my assembly constituency.  If still someone argues that I was responsible for the reduction of the margin then I will say that I have won the seat."

He also mentioned many areas in the assembly segments where the party had lost during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

"The party should investigate the issue," he said.

Subhrangshu Roy made the remarks at a time when speculations are high that a rift has developed between TMC chief  Mamata Banerjee and senior party leader Mukul Roy.
