Much awaited Assam cabinet to expand next month?

Guwahati, July 28 (IBNS): Much awaited cabinet expansion of the BJP-led Assam government is likely to take place in the next month.

According to the reports, the national leaders of the saffron party have approved the cabinet expansion of Sarbananda Sonowal led state government and it would like to expand the same before August 10.

A top source of BJP’s Assam unit said that, party's national president Amit Shah’s Assam visit is scheduled on August 8-10 and the cabinet expansion would happen before Shah’s visit.

The source said that, top leaders of BJP have approved the list of new ministers list.

“Eight MLAs including one each from BJP’s ally party Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) will be sworn in as ministers. Apart from them, two present ministers would be dropped from the cabinet,” the source said.

“Among the new faces, a legislator from hill district Karbi Anglong would likely to birth in the ministry,” the top source said.

Eight posts are still vacant in the Sarbananda Sonowal led state cabinet.
