Modi reaches Belur Math: PM to stay overnight at the Math

| @indiablooms | Jan 11, 2020, at 10:40 pm

Kolkata/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Belur Math on Saturday evening where he will stay overnight.

Before leaving, he dedicated to the nation four refurbished heritage buildings in Kolkata and Dynamic Architectural Illumination with synchronised light and sound system of Rabindra Setu (Howrah Bridge), as a part of 150th anniversary celebrations of Kolkata Port Trust.

Modi visited Belur Math for the first time as the Prime Minister in 2015 and expressed his gratitude to the Ramkrishna Mission monks for allowing him to meditate in the room where Swami Vivekananda used to meditate.

The Prime Minister crossed River Hooghly in a launch.

He tweeted pictures of his journey to iconic Belur Math, the headquarters of Ramkrishna Mission, established by Swami Vivekananda in 1899.

This is Modi’s first visit to West Bengal after the BJP’s massive win in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

The Prime Minsiter's Office tweeted a picture of him where he is seen interacting with President of Ramkrishna Mission Swami Smaranananda and other monks of the Ramkrishna order at Belur Math.

Incidentally, tomorrow is also the 156th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

The Prime Minsiter also shared some pictures of his "special moments" in Belur Math.

Earlier, Modi tweeted about his spiritual guru Swami Athmasthananda, late president of Ramkrishna Mission.

On Sunday, he is likely to take a bath at River Ganges and meditate in the same room in the Math premises where Swami Vivekananda used to meditate.
