Guwahati, Nov 14 (IBNS)  :  In the run-up to the Assam  panchayat polls to be held on December 5 and 9, miscreants torched a vehicle of an Assam BJP leader in central Assam’s Nagaon district on Tuesday night.

The incident took place at Kahaligaon village.

According to the reports, BJP's Kaliabor district president Anil Saikia had parked his Mahindra Bolero vehicle outside his house. When all were in sleep  in the night, the miscreants set it on fire.

Saikia suspects that some of those denied party tickets for the rural elections might  be involved in the incident.

“We in sleep. It was around 1-30 am that we woke up to some sounds. The vehicle was parked outside of my home premises. We found the vehicle burning.  Some people who didn’t get party tickets might be involved in it” Anil said.

The BJP leader has lodged an FIR with the police.
