Minority community & majority of voters are with BJP: Goa CM Pramod Sawant

Panaji, Apr 8 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday claimed that all the five candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including two contesting Lok Sabha election, are getting good response from the voters, including from minority community, who are well aware about the vision of Narendra Modi-led government.

Addressing a press conference at the party state headquarters in the city, he said Lok Sabha elections were held to elect government for the country and minority community voters were aware how Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken the nation ahead through his inclusive policies.

“The minority community voters are educated, they read national newspapers, watch national television and they are aware about the development undertaken by Modi-led government. They are with BJP,” he said.

Dr Sawant said both the candidates – Shripad Naik (North Goa) and Narendra Sawaikar (South Goa) are getting good response from the people, including those from minority community during their campaigning.

“Lok Sabha elections are for the country. Do not limit these elections to certain caste or religion,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the issues related to Goa like resumption of Iron Ore mining industry, Tourism development, further improvement in infrastructure and inclusion of Dhanagar community in the list of Scheduled Tribes had been suggested to be included in party’s national manifesto for Lok Sabha election.

The Chief Minister also said the coalition partners, including Goa Forward Party (GFP) and independents were campaigning for BJP candidates in their respective assembly constituencies.

He claimed that Congress had fielded 'inefficient' leaders as candidates in both the constituencies and pointed out that Congress had to import leader from South Goa to contest in North Goa due to dearth of candidate.

Also in South, he said Congress candidate Francisco Sardinha had a track record of not utilizing the fund under MPLAD.

“While on one hand, we have Sawaikar who has utilized 100 per cent of the fund under MPLAD scheme, Sardinha had to surrender 70 percent of his funds,” he claimed.
