Mike Pompeo leaves for India to attend 2+2 Dialogue

Washington: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Sunday left for India where he will attend the third India-U.S. 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue.

"Wheels up for my trip to India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Indonesia. Grateful for the opportunity to connect with our partners to promote a shared vision for a free and open #IndoPacific composed of independent, strong, and prosperous nations," Pompeo tweeted.

India will be hosting the third India-U.S. 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue on Oct 27 in New Delhi.

 U.S. Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo and Secretary of Defense Mark T. Esper will be visiting India on Oct 26-27 to participate in the Dialogue.  

From the Indian side, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will lead the delegations from the Ministries of Defence and External Affairs, respectively.  

The first two 2+2 Ministerial dialogues were held in New Delhi in September 2018 and in Washington DC in 2019.

The agenda for the third Dialogue will cover all bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest.
