MiG-29K crash: Search, rescue operation on to locate second pilot
New Delhi/UNI: The Search and Rescue effort of Indian Navy to locate the second pilot of the MiG-29K trainer aircraft, which ditched off in Goa on Nov 26, continued with extensive deployment of naval ships and aircraft.
Some debris of the aircraft, including landing gear, turbo charger, fuel tank engine and wing engine cowling have been located, Indian Navy spokesperson Commander Vivek Madhwa said.
In addition to nine warships and 14 aircraft engaged in search efforts, the Indian Navy's Fast Interceptor Craft have also been deployed to search waters along the coast.
Further, the Marine/Coastal police are on the lookout and nearby fishing villages have been sensitised, added Mr Madhwa.
On Thursday, Indian Navy's trainer aircraft MiG-29K had crashed over Arabian Sea, making it the third such incident in a year.
The trainer aircraft was operating from INS Vikramaditya.
