Meghalaya police recover huge quantity of explosives from Assam vehicle

Shillong: Meghalaya police recovered a huge quantity of explosives from a vehicle at Byrnihat area along Assam-Meghalaya border on Friday.

Police also arrested the driver of the vehicle.

The arrested person was identified as Moynul Hoque of Rangaswari village in Kamrup district of Assam.

A police official of Ri-Bhoi district said that, Moynul Hoque was arrested during a naka checking at Byrnihat area while he transport the explosives in a vehicle bearing registration number AS-01BV-8065.

The police recovered explosives including 2044 aluminum Instantaneous Electric Detonator Class-6 (Division-3) and 4027 Neo Gel (Gelatine Sticks) from the vehicle.

The police officer said that, the vehicle was coming from Khliehriat in East Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya and was heading to Athiabari in Assam.
