Maoist landmine blast: Six Odisha Police personnel killed in Koraput

Bhubaneswar, Feb 1 (IBNS): At least six jawans of Odisha State Armed Police were killed and several were injured when the minibus in which they were travelling was flung off the road following a landmine blast, which was reportedly planted by Maoists, reports said.

According the reports, the landmine was placed under a culvert on the mountaineous roads at Sunki in Koraput district which exploded on Wednesday afternoon.

"Koraput superintendent of police Charan Singh Meena said the blast took place on National Highway 26 at Mungabhumi village of Sunki area under Pottangi poice station on the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border," the Indian Express reported.

The jawans, all drivers, were reportedly going from Koraput to Angul district for training as assistant drivers.
