Manik Sarkar resigns as Tripura CM

Agartala, Mar 4 (IBNS): A day after the BJP registered a landmark victory in the Tripura Assembly polls, outgoing Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Sunday submitted his resignation to state Governor  Tathagata Roy in Agartala.

BJP removed the Left Front government from power after 25 years rule.

The BJP clinched 43 seats in the state.

The Left front managed just 16 seats.

Polling for the 59 seats in Tripura Assembly was held on Feb 18.

Sarkar had served as the Chief Minister of the state since 1998.

The results of the Assembly poll was declared on Saturday.
