Man commits suicide in Uttar Pradesh due to family discord

A 45-year-old man shot himself and committed suicide allegedly after having a dispute with his wife in Nigohi area of Shahjahanpur district here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, a police officer said here.

Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Sudhir Jaiswal said that Rajaram, a resident of Ghusgawan village, was an addict.

"Due to addiction Rajaram had already sold his land and was now planning to sell his house which was being opposed by his wife Bhagyawati and children," he said.

He said that on Tuesday morning Rajaram had a dispute with his wife over the issue after which he shot himself with an illicit firearm.

"Rajaram died on the spot. The body has been sent for postmortem examination and the matter is being investigated by the police," he said.
