Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday posted a cryptic tweet highlighting the country's "unity in diversity", on a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending the "Bhoomi Pujan" ceremony of Ram Mandir in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya.

Mamata tweeted, "Hindu Muslim Sikh Isaai Aapas mein hain Bhai Bhai! Mera Bharat Mahaan, Mahaan Hamara Hindustan. Our country has always upheld the age-old legacy of unity in diversity, and we must preserve this to our last breath!"

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, who is often critical of the state government, thanked the judiciary for making the construction of Ram Mandir a reality and also took a jibe at Mamata's alleged appeasement politics.

Tagging the CM, Dhankhar tweeted, "At 6.30 PM today at Raj Bhawan ‘?? ?? ??? ?????’ will celebrate historic day-‘??? ????? ???? ????’ ?? ?? ?????? ?? ??? ???? ?? ?????? ??? Long wait over-thanks to historic judicial verdict. Appeasement Silence Stance @MamataOfficial resonates. Ram Sita in our Constitution."

Though Modi will be present at the event, several top BJP leaders will give it a miss due to the Novel Coronavirus spread.

While Union Home Minister Amit Shah has quarantined himself after testing positive for Covid-19, senior BJP leader Uma Bharti has said she will be in Ayodhya but won't be on the stage as she is concerned over the PM's health in the wake of Coronavirus spread.

Besides Modi, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust head Mahant Nrityagopal Das, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath and Governor Anandiben Patel will be on the stage.
