Mamata Banerjee's TMC heading for victory in violence-hit West Bengal Panchayat polls

Kolkata: CM Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) is heading for a massive victory in all three-tier Panchayat elections as results are pouring in from several districts as the ruling party secured wins in 14,767 gram panchayat (GP) seats, followed by main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that clinched 3,344 seats, according to the State Election Commission on Tuesday.

Out of a total of 341 Panchayat Samitis (PS), the All India Trinamool Congress is leading in 28 as the results are awaited.

The counting of votes in the violence-hit panchayat and rural body elections are currently underway for Saturday's poll and repolling to 697 seats on Monday.

The ruling regime is dominant in all three - Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samities and the Zilla Parishads.

According to trends at 3.30 pm, the TMC has won in 12,518 gram panchayat seats and is leading in 3,620 seats.

Its nearest rival BJP has won 2,781 seats and is leading in 915 seats out of 63,229 seats.

The Left Front has won 959 seats out of which the CPI(M) alone has won in 910 seats. The party is currently leading in 550 seats.

The Congress won 625 seats and is leading in 276.

BJP Leading - 734

Congress Won - 362

Congress Leading - 215.
