Mamata Banerjee speaking against Left-Congress for polarisation politics: BJP

| @indiablooms | Jan 10, 2020, at 12:58 pm

New Delhi/IBNS: Taking a swipe at the Opposition, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is speaking against the Left and Congress and skipping the scheduled Opposition's meet to concentrate her Muslim votes in the eastern state.

Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra, "The Opposition is now exposing each other. They're competing in the game of polarization. Truth has been revealed. Mamata Banerjee has blamed the Congress and CPI(M) for arson and violence."

"She's saying all this because she doesn't want Muslim votes to be divided in Bengal. She wants to own all of them. This is the prime example of politics of polarization," he added.

Splitting an apparent Opposition unity, Banerjee on Thursday said she will fight against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) alone.

Banerjee also said she will skip the Opposition's meet which is scheduled to be held on Jan 13. The meeting has been called by Congress president Sonia Gandhi to decide the Opposition's strategy to fight against the CAA-NRC.

The Chief Minister, while speaking at the state assembly on Thursday, lashed out at the Left and Congress for "playing dirty politics in Bengal".

"CPI-M and Congress are sorting to hooliganism in Bengal. They have indulged in violent activities in Malda and are responsible for torching the vehicles," Banerjee said.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief's decision came a day after 10 trade unions had called for a 24-hour nationwide bandh to protest against the BJP-led Centre on a number of "anti-people policies" including the CAA and NRC.

Banerjee on Wednesday attacked the Left for resorting to violence to make bandh successful in West Bengal.
