Malegaon blasts case : SC reserves order on bail plea of Col Shrikant Pruohit

| | Aug 17, 2017, at 06:58 pm
The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved its order on the bail plea of 2008 Malegaon blasts accused former Lieutenant Colonel Shrikant Prasad Purohit, reports said.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) opposed his bail.

Purohit  moved the apex court after the Bombay High Court had rejected his bail plea.

The High Court had granted relief to another accused in the case, Sadhvi Pragya Singh.

Both Purohit and Pragya were arrested in 2008 on charges of plotting the explosions carried out by radical Hindutva group Abhinav Bharat.

Senior lawyer Harish Salve, who was arguing for the accused, pleaded in the Supreme Court that "for the interest of justice” Purohit should be given interim bail.
