Nashik/UNI: Three underage boys were reportedly detained on Tuesday for allegedly killing their 16-year-old friend and dumping the body in a well, police said here on Wednesday.

Identified as Rameshwar Kawle, the teenage victim, a resident of the Rajiv Nagar slum, was reported missing since September 20.

The body was found afloat in a well at the Pethenagar Road in the Indiranagar area here on Monday, said police, and added that it turned out be that of Kawle.

The trio accused took the victim along with them on September 20 midnight on the pretext of stealing scrap, apprised police.

Sensing the opportune time, the trio accused killed Rameshwar by strangling him and later dumped his body in the well.

During investigation, the accused revealed that they lost Rs 1.5 lakh to Rameshwar in gambling, and the victim used to insist them to pay the money hence they decided to kill him.

A case has been registered against the trio and they were detained on November 12, added police.
