Maharashtra: NIA detains 2 from Kolhapur for suspected links to ISIS

Kolhapur: National Investigation Agency with the help of local police conducted a raid at Hupari in Hatkanangale tehsil of the district early on Sunday and detained two youths for their alleged links to ISIS terror outfit.

NIA's raid was a part of nationwide crackdown on suspects linked to the ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) at 13 premises in six states.

According to information, NIA detained two youths allegedly connected with ISIS and started an inquiry with them at a secret location in the district.

NIA officials have seized incriminating documents and other important materials from the room of a detained youth, who was originally from Mumbai but had rented the room of his relative at Hupari.

Similarly, NIA also conducted a raid in Nanded district of Maharashtra.

NIA has already registered a suo-moto case under sections 153A, 153B of Indian Penal Code and under sections 18, 18B, 38 and 40 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in Delhi on June 25 this year.
