Maharashtra: Lightning kills mother, son in Nanded

Nanded, June 29 (UNI) A 27-year-old mother and her infant boy were reportedly killed due to lightning strike at the Hatni village in the Umri tehsil here, police said on Saturday.

The incident occurred on Friday morning when the victim, Sushila Govind Soornar, went to fields for work along with her two infants, Rajesh (4) and Muktabai (6), the police added.

Due to rain, the trio took a shelter under a tree. Later, lightning struck at the tree, killing the duo of mother and son while injuring the minor girl, police said.

The girl, who sustained minor burns, was rushed to a hospital.

A case of accidental deaths was registered by the Umri Police.
