Maharashtra: Elderly man held for killing second wife

Thane/UNI: A 65-year-old man was arrested here on Saturday for allegedly strangulating his second wife to death over property inheritance issue amongst their children, informed police on Sunday.

The accused have been identified as Somnath Shukla, a resident of the Indira Nagar, said police.


According to police, there used to be frequent quarrels between the accused Somnath and his second wife Shardha Shukla (55) over the issue of distributing two flats, owned by them , amogst their two sons.


No agreement on the issue was reached between the accused and his wife following which the accused stopped her medication, told police.
On November 8, the accused killed his wife by strangulating her, stated police.


On Saturday, offence under the IPC section 302 was registered against the accused with the Srinagar police station, apprised police spokesman Sukhada Narkar.
