Maharashtra: Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena to leave BJP alliance govt if Ajit Pawar and group of MLAs join

Mumbai: The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena will not be part of the government in Maharashtra if NCP leader Ajit Pawar and his group of party leaders join the BJP, Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Shirsat has warned, media reported.

Shirsat made this statement during a conversation with reporters in Mumbai on Tuesday, a report in the media said.

He said that the NCP is known for betraying alliances and that his party will not align with them even if they are in power, according to the report.

The Eknath Shinde-led faction decided to leave the undivided Shiv Sen that was being led by Uddhav Thackeray because of the alliance with the Congress and NCP which was disapproved by the people of Maharashtra, Shirsat said, adding that the NCP is unlikely to join forces with the BJP directly.

However, if Ajit Pawar joins the current ruling alliance after severing ties with the NCP, the Shiv Sena wouldn’t leave the government in Maharashtra, he added.

If he comes along with a group of NCP leaders, Shiv Sena would part ways with BJP.

Shirsat said Ajit Pawar does not have a free hand in NCP, adding that Ajit Pawar is unhappy as his son Parth Pawar lost the elections earlier and his displeasure has no link with the plea seeking disqualification of 16 Shiv Sena MLAs in the Supreme Court.
