Maharashtra: Driver held for transporting scum used for making hooch

Kolhapur, Apr 6 (UNI) A tanker driver on Saturday was sent to police custody till April 8, on the alleged charge of illegally transporting sugarcane residual known as scum, which is used for manufacturing low-quality liquor.

According to police, the accused, identified as Omprakash Yadav, was transporting the contraband from Goa, when he was stopped for security check at Checkpost Naka near Dajipur of Radhanagari tehsil here.

The sleuths arrested the accused and also impounded his vehicle. Further investigation into the case was underway, police added.
