Maharashtra Crime: Talathi held in bribe case

Jalna (Maharashtra) Jul 9 (UNI) A circle officer and a talathi have been arrested while accepting a bribe from a farmer, Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) sources said here.

The ACB said in a statement that a complainant’s mother-in-law owns a piece of land in Mauje Mali Pipalgaon in Jalna tehsil and her surname was recorded wrongly in the revenue record.

For correction, they demanded Rs 25,000, but finally agreed to get a work done in Rs 24,000.

The aggreived complainant approached the ACB who laid a trap at the collectorate.

After taking powdered notes, the alleged accused went for a meeting but were arrested. The powered notes were recovered from them.

The accused were identified as Bhagesh Bhardikar (49), circle officer and Krishna Gullapelli (talathi), it added.
