Maharashtra: Advocate held for demanding Rs 60k bribe in land title case

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Apr 9 (UNI) The Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) here on Tuesday arrested an Advocate for allegedly demanding Rs 60,000 as bribe from a widow for settling her minor case.

According to the ACB, the accused identified as Sharad Bhagde reached out to the woman as a middleman assuring her of settling her minor case which pertained to name change in the land record document in lieu of Rs 60,000.

The aggrieved woman approached the ACB and registered a complaint against the accused on March 13.

Later, the ACB verified the allegations levelled against the Advocate and arrested him under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The accused has been sent into judicial custody till April 12,stated ACB.
