Maharashtra: 4 killed, 12 injured as bus rams into container

Nagpur/UNI: At least four people were killed and 12 other sustained injuries when a bus carrying a marriage party hit a stationary container truck on NH-53, near Shingori phata on Nagpur-Bhandara road here early on Saturday.

According to police, the incident took place around 0530 hrs in Mouda taluka of Nagpur district when 30 people were on board the bus returning towards Nagpur after attending a wedding at Tirora in Gondia district.

The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital in Bhandara district and some of the injured were admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Nagpur where the condition of six people is said to be very critical.

Among the dead, two people reportedly died on the spot while two others succumbed to injuries at the hospital in Bhandara.

The deceased have been identified as Vithabai Tukaram Zilpe(72), resident of Manewada road, Karuna Vijayrao Khonde(58), resident of Shatabdi Square, Anand Rameshrao Athwale (28), Rambagh, and Satish Jambhulkar(35), resident of Gondia, police added.
